We wanted to wait until after the WOKY Homecoming
event before passing along our sincere thanks for the
support that you, your staff and folks at WOKY gave us
with our recent 50th Anniversary and Reunion.
Sunday, October 14, 2007 will be a day that none of us will
every forget. Throughout the day, over one thousand of our
friends made the trip to the Chandelier Ballroom in Hartford.
They came by bus, they came by car and yes, some even came
by limousine. We must thank Michelle Price and the staff of the
Chandelier Ballroom who couldn't have been more accommodating
to our needs and the needs of our guests. It was the kind of event that
everywhere you looked, you saw smiling faces.
Over a year ago when we began to plan our event, we had
hoped that we might be able to align ourselves with a local
Milwaukee Radio Station. WOKY's format change to 60's and
70's music was a perfect match for a bunch of old Rock and
Rollers like ourselves. Your Throw Back Thursday segments featuring
local bands of the 60's and 70's has reintroduced a generation of listeners
to AM radio and we are very proud and grateful to have played a
small part in that success. And as EL Rey and the Nightbeats enter their
51st year of Rock and Roll, we sincerely thank you and our many friends
who have allowed us to do what we love. Keep on Rockin' WOKY and
we hope to see you down the road.
